L&M 010 Levels and Moors Tourism project - total grant £42,000

This project will deliver a number of elements that will strengthen the visitor offer across the Level and Moors LARC area. It will develop town guides for areas that are less well known to visitors and tourists alike. Also guides to small businesses on the Levels will be developed to help strengthen the local economies in the area.

These guides will be available from the Visit Somerset website (click here) and in Tourist Information Centres.

L&M 020 The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal Warden's Service - total grant of £3,750

To produce a comprehensive pictorial guide for the Bridgwater and Taunton canal corridor, for residents and visitors alike. The guide will provide publicity for the corridor which will promote the area and businesses within it.

L&M 101 PH Coate and Son Ltd - total grant of £12,663

The project will produce a short audio visual presention on DVD to portray the willow growing and processing over the year.

L&M 028 Somerset Art Works - total grant of £10,880

The project will provide local professional development training opportunites for emerging mid career artists and makers. It will also provide intern employment for emerging creative arts post graduates.

L&M 135 St Mary & St Margaret Charity - total grant £18,835

The project will rennovate and make good a historic building in the heart of Glastonbury. These works will enable the building to provide a flexible community and business space. There will be a strong business and tourism theme to the activities that are provided.

L&M 142 Zoyland Visitor Centre - total grant £3,500

The project is committed to create a Visitor Centre, initially within the church of St Mary's Westonzoyland, to promote knowledge and understanding of the Battle of Sedgemoor, what circumstances lead to the battle, the battle itself and the implications of the aftermath. The project will allow the production of information materials and the projection of a film we have had made in conjunction with The Sealed Knot and Bridgwater College Media Department. We believe the Centre will act as a significant tourist attraction to the area.

L&M 168 Burnham and Highbridge Parish Council - total grant £19,970

The project will replace and improve the kitchen facilities, bar/lounge and art café at the Princess Theatre in Burnham-on-Sea. This will create a bright, modern facility that will attract tourists and locals alike.

L&M 169 Maunsel Lock Centre - total grant £17,400

The aim of the project is to add to the existing facilities at the Canal Centre facilities to suit the increasing demand fro those visiting and boating on the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal. The undercover seating area will help to extend the tourism season at this popular venue.

L&M 170 Parochial Church Council, Holycross Church - total grant £3,000

The project will provide digital display systems for the wealth of heritage artefacts the Church currently has in paper format, which is unsustainable to keep on public display. There will also be a pamphlet designed and printed to compliment the improved facilities at the Heritage Centre, including what can facilities are available in the village.

L&M 175 Langport Town Council - total grant £20,000

As a first stage, this project seeks to develop a network of improved pathways and a town signage, which will include bespoke gateway signage and localised way-markers.
